About Me
VITAL STATS

BIO. I am a Playmaker, or versatile theatre professional working as a producer, director, actor and teaching artist.
I grew up in New England and attended Amherst College, where I played four years of NCAA varsity lacrosse, and discovered that the discipline of acting allowed me to marry my athleticism with my inclination toward creative expression and language. After graduating, I spent a few years building my Non Equity acting resume in NYC, and at several of our country's finest regional theatres, including Hartford Stage and Paper Mill Playhouse. After a summer as an Apprentice at Williamstown Theatre Festival, I embraced the reality that I needed conservatory training, and earned one of only fourteen spots in my class at the Brown University / Trinity Rep MFA Program in Acting. The faculty at Brown / Trinity inspired in me a love for spare, actor-driven theatre -- an aesthetic value I brought with me to greater-Boston upon finishing graduate school. In my new city, I convinced a handful of colleagues to take the plunge and form Bridge Repertory Theater -- a small company with huge heart, high standards, and big vision. Over the course of this journey, I have branched away from a strict acting focus to include directing, producing, artistic leadership, and teaching in my playmaking bag of tricks. Openly out and proud, I live in Worcester with my wife, Rachel, and our rescue dog, Rusty. My road as an artist has been full of highs, lows, unexpected turns, and other clichés -- all in all, the challenge, adventure and growth have been tremendous, and I look forward to moving ahead in all of my playmaking endeavors. In the words of our great playwright, Tennessee Williams.... en avant. |
