I call myself a Playmaker because no one title quite fits the bill. That said, whether I am producing, directing, acting or teaching, I see live theatre not as an end unto itself, but rather a means of connection, bringing us closer to one another, our communities, and our humanity.
As a leader, I strive to cultivate conditions in which artists, audiences, and communities thrive together. On stage, I endeavor to create unpretentious theatrical events rooted in rigorous moment-to-moment specificity and a minimalist aesthetic. Put plainly: theatrical storytelling should be clear, powerful, exciting, FUN. I've produced a range of new and contemporary works, modern classics, Shakespeare, co-productions and special events. I've worked in everything from tiny studios to intimate black boxes to large proscenium houses to enormous public parks. As a director specifically, I have a particular love for large-cast productions and heightened language plays, while my acting balances meticulous technique with great emotional depth, all in a gender non-conforming package with a toothy grin. Importantly, I'm always coming out. Turns out it's a never-ending process. Also a process that continually feeds my creations. I currently live in Worcester, MA, serving as artistic director of The Hanover Theatre Rep and Lecturer in Acting at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Having lived in Manhattan, Boston, Cambridge, and Providence, I can confidently say that Worcester is special. I'm delighted to be here making theatre and community. I'm a member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society and Actors' Equity Association, with an MFA in Acting from Brown University/Trinity Rep and a BA in Theatre from Amherst College summa cum laude, where I was also a 4-year NCAA varsity athlete.
